Contents: Drospirenone 3 mg, ethinylestradiol 20 mcg
Indication: Contraception. Management of premenstrual dysphoric disorder or moderate acne in women who also require an oral contraception.
Dosage: Take 1 pink tab for the 1st 24 days then 1 white tab for the last 4 days.
Contraindication: Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ or history of thrombosis, embolism; heart attack, stroke or angina pectoris; migraine w/ focal neurological symptoms; pancreatitis; liver illness, impairment or tumor; cancer of the breast or sexual organs. Patients w/ diabetes w/ damaged blood vessels; very high BP & cholesterol or triglyceride levels in the blood; blood clotting disturbance eg, protein C deficiency; renal failure; vag bleeding of unknown cause. Pregnancy.
Special Precaution: Family history of breast cancer. Liver or gallbladder illness, diabetes, depression, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, hemolytic uremic syndrome, sickle cell anemia, epilepsy, SLE; hearing loss, porphyria, gestational herpes, Sydenham's chorea; chloasma, hereditary angioedema. Increased risk of developing arterial & venous thrombosis. Lactose intolerance. May interfere w/ lab test results. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions: Mood swings, headache, nausea, breast pain, irregular menstruation or absence of period.
Drug Interactions: Unexpected bleeding or reduced contraceptive effect w/ antiepileptics (eg, primidone, phenytoin, barbiturates, carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine), anti-TB drugs (eg, rifampicin), HIV drugs (eg, ritonavir, nevirapine), antibiotics (eg, griseofulvin, penicillins, tetracyclines), St. John's wort & bosentan. Medicines containing ciclosporin. Increased seizure frequency w/ lamotrigine.
